CUSTOMER SUPPORT

Please read the instructions in this manual carefully. After studying the manual, if you have any questions concerning the installation of your Hardless NG system, please call (888) 855-1802 Mon-Thurs 8am to 6pm and Fri 8am to 3pm Pacific Standard Time. You can also email us at support@hardlessng.com.

IMPORTANT NOTES

The installation of your Hardless NG3 unit must comply with federal, provincial, state, municipal and local laws and regulations.

The warranty is only in effect if the Hardless NG3 is installed by a licensed plumber or an Hardless NG Authorized Agent.

Please only use our cartridges as we cannot guarantee the water quality with other cartridges, and using a different manufacturer’s cartridge will invalidate the warranty.

The jet/valve at the bottom needs to be opened once a month (for 30 seconds) to wash and clean the system.

Do not use water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.

INSTALLATION

Please be sure to have your Hardless NG3 installed by a licensed professional plumber, so that your warranty will be in effect.

Inside the box you will see two possible choices to use for washing the unit.

The two possible valve choices are:
1) The blue jet (part #8) already attached
2) The valve (part #9)

The advantage of the valve is that a hose can be attached but if possible the manufacturer recommends using the blue jet for the wash as it does a better job at washing the unit.

Verify the size of the water piping thread on which the filter will be installed. The filter has a 1" thread. If your pipes are not the size of the filter thread you will need to use adapters.

The thread needs to be covered by a thread sealant for use with drinking water before making the connection. We have found it best to use both Teflon tape and liquid Teflon.

The direction of the flow of water should be from the city line to the building. On the top of the filter, you will see two small arrows to show the direction of the flow of water.

Turn off the main water. Connect the pipe on the entry and exit. Be sure to leave enough room to make it easy to maintain and flush the unit once installed. Flush the product by opening the jet or the valve (whichever you chose) for 30 seconds. Please be sure to put a bucket underneath to catch the water.

MAINTENANCE

The Hardless NG3 needs to be flushed once a month.

In the box you will find two options that can be used to flush the unit.

1) If you use the jet (Part #8), turn it until you see the water spraying fairly strong and let it spray for 30 seconds. Please remember to put a bucket underneath to catch the water.

2) If you use the valve (Part #9) you need to open the valve all the way and let the water run for 30 seconds. Please remember to put a bucket underneath to catch the water.

The advantage of using the valve is that a hose can be attached, but when possible the manufacturer recommends using the blue jet for the flush as it does a better job at cleaning out the unit.

Note: If you are having a hard time turning the valve or jet on the bottom, close the main water and open a faucet in your home (this will release pressure), close the faucet and try again to open the valve/jet. Open the main water to flush the unit.

Once a year, we recommend placing the mesh filter and the til rod in vinegar for 30 min to keep them clean.

CARTRIDGE AND POST FILTER REPLACEMENT

Turn off the main water valve.

Release the pressure by turning the jet (part #8) on the bottom (or by opening the valve (part #9) if you are using that option) and let the water come out. Close the jet. (This is so you do not get splashed later).

Turn the product base (part #7) clockwise until it separates from the top.

Remove the post filter (part #5). The rod, the cartridge and stainless steel filter will be inside of the post filter.

Remove the rod (part #2) and used cartridge (part #3). They will come out easily. Set them aside.

In order to remove the stainless steel filter, hold the post filter (part #5) and remove the cap (part #6) on the bottom. (The cap is attached to the stainless filter but must be removed in order to separate the two).
If you push down on the stainless steel filter that is inside the post filter, you will see that the cap can be easily removed.

You can now remove the stainless steel filter by pushing upward from the part where the cap was and then twisting out the stainless steel filter. You have now separated the two parts.

To place the new post filter, hold the stainless steel filter with your hand on the end with the black o ring and gently twist the stainless steel filter until it slides into the post filter. You can now replace the cap onto the bottom of the stainless steel filter (the end without the black o ring). Place back the new post filter and stainless steel filter into the unit with the cap part on the bottom.

You can put in the new cartridge (with slots facing up) and put the rod back in the cartridge.

Replace the product base (part #7) and close securely.Turn on the main water and open the jet to wash the unit for 30 seconds.

Don’t forget to put a bucket underneath to catch water!

If you have any questions, please call 1-888-855-1802.
